Historic house party.

A few weekends ago we had the privilege of working in a beautiful historic house in the centre of Kings Lynn. The occasion was a joint birthday party for mother and children and they went big!

We were there ready to serve welcome drinks and canapés to around 70 friends and family. The weather all day had been awful, it had poured with rain all day, but shortly before guests arrived the rain stopped and the sun made its first appearance of the day! We were able to serve in the garden as planned which we weren’t sure would happen even an hour before!

The canapés the family chose were honey mustard sausages, tomato, onion and basil crostinis, and cheese straws.

When it was time to be seated the guests moved inside to two rooms that had been laid with long tables decorated in a Scottish theme. After a couple of quick speeches it was time for dinner. The family chose fillet steak, mashed potato, and green beans with gravy and horseradish on the table for people to help themselves. For the vegetarians amongst them we served vegetable wellington with the same sides and a vegan gravy. Children had sausage, mash and peas. Dessert for everyone attending was a rich chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream.

Everything we used to serve food and drinks were from the families collection of bone china crockery, beautiful glassware, giant gravy jugs, tiny pepper shakers. You name it, they had everything, and it was gorgeous! It was also very scary when it came to washing and drying it all up for them!

Once we were cleaned up and tidied away we left the party to their disco in the basement. What a night!

It was lovely being asked to help mark this special occasion for them and we hope to see them again in the future.
