Bubbles at the barn
A few weeks ago we returned to our wonderful friends at The Red Barn for C&T’s wedding. Having known C for many years it was lovely to be asked to play such a big part in his special day.
We set up earlier in the week which included bringing Little Bubbles out of her den! For those of you that don’t know, Little Bubbles is our Prosecco van. A Piaggio Ape, lovingly transformed by my Dad with space and pumps for two barrels. C&T went for our “His and Hers” package for their reception drinks. This was one barrel of Carlsberg and one barrel of Prosecco. These were served straight from the van to guests as they came outside from the ceremony. We were then on hand to top up for people throughout the afternoon while photos were being taken by our friend Danny Gladwin, garden games played and canapés nibbled on.
C&T’s choice of canapés this week were tomato, onion, basil and parmesan crostinis, lamb kofta balls and prawn and chorizo bites. The bride and groom also went for gluten free mini Yorkshire puddings with beef and horseradish.
As guests came into the barn for the wedding breakfast we topped them up one more time to ensure they had a toast drink for the speeches.
Once speeches were finished we served the wedding breakfast. Starters this week were asparagus wrapped in parma ham with hollandaise sauce (just out of season locally, I know, but it’s what they wanted!) or caprese salad for the vegetarians. Main course was our infamous chicken in creamy sauce with sage and onion mash and petit pois a la Francaise. Vegetarians were served a creamy mushroom risotto with parmesan crisp. For dessert C&T had ordered in mini cheesecakes from a local company, these were served buffet style for guests to help themselves.
As day turned to night we ran a full bar service. For evening food we served pulled pork with gluten free BBQ sauce in brioche buns. On request, we made halloumi burgers for our vegetarians. These were served alongside the wedding cake, which was… more cheesecakes!
We had a great day working for this lovely couple and we wish them all the happiness in the world.
