Winter wedding at the Red Barn
As fans of a winter wedding ourselves we were looking forward to seeing what ideas B & J had up their sleeves. They didn’t disappoint!
With B being from South America and family coming over for the occasion, the couple went for a mix of traditions from both there and here. As well as choosing us to do their food and drinks they also chose Tracy to do their decor and flowers.
The bride wore a gorgeous burgundy dress which I believe was made by her mother, while the groom looked very suave in a full tuxedo. This was complimented by the wonderful flower arrangements made by Tracy. Discussions and meetings led to arrangements of fir and ivy with whole oranges and whole apples, berries, dried sliced oranges, pine cones and chillies. Beautiful winter colours alongside gold candles in tall water filled glasses. Decorated wicker hoops filled the alcoves in the barn and two huge flower displays moved from the ceremony to either side of the top table for the wedding breakfast.
For canapés B & J chose calamari rings with garlic aioli and honey mustard sausages. As well as these they had beef and horseradish Yorkshire puddings and our popular veggie option, tomato and onion crostinis. These, as always, went down a treat alongside the wedding party’s reception drinks and entertainment by Dean Odell Mind Reader.
For the wedding breakfast B & J picked a menu of two choices for starter and main. The starter choices were our classic pork belly dish or leek and potato soup with fresh bread. For the mains they went for Seabass with mash, crispy seaweed and dill pesto. The second option was minted lamb with dauphinois potatoes, tender stem broccoli and a mint jus. As always everyone was very complimentary of the food they were served. After the main course Dean entertained for a while before speeches and dessert which was mini cakes from a local cake company.
As the party got started and drinks were flowing we set about preparing evening food for the guests. At 9pm we served a choice of Mac and cheese or fries with various toppings to help themselves to. These included bacon crumbs with red onion chutney, sweet chilli and garlic aioli or sun-dried tomatoes with garlic aioli. These topping choices were chosen by B & J and it seemed the guests were more than happy with their choices!
We had a lovely time being a part of B & J’s special day and it’s always great to see traditions, dancing and celebrating from other parts of the world. We wish them both all the happiness in their future life as Mr and Mrs!
