Cocktail fun in the sun!

We had so much fun last week with one of our regular groups of ladies. A 60th birthday party this time! It’s always great when we’re with these ladies and they didn’t fail to live up to their usual standard this time!

We arrived at the house to set up a cocktail masterclass for 18. We set up two large tables in the garden. Both tables had everything needed for every person to make their own cocktails.

For a cocktail masterclass we prepare a welcome drink and a shot to get everybody in the right mood to let down their hair. This week we chose to serve Lavender Margarita’s made with home made lavender syrup. The colour was just beautiful.

When the ladies arrived from their lunch we were ready to go. Ryan had his work cut out to be heard over this gang but somehow he managed! We passed out the welcome drinks and Ryan told the ladies they needed to split into two teams. He made them do this by having the birthday girl and the home owner as team captains and making them choose their teams like they were at school. After a lot of laughter and shouting the teams were decided and the rivalry began.

Somehow Ryan was able to hold the ladies attention for long enough to show them their first cocktail. Then they were sent off to make their own. This was a Cosmopolitan and a great one to get a masterclass started. It’s short, sweet and fairly simple to make. Or so we thought! There were a lot of oddly coloured ones dotted around!

The Bramble was next up. My personal favourite for years. Often made with Creme de Cassis (blackcurrant liquor) which is wrong, we make our own Creme de Mure (blackberry liquor) to actually make it the correct way. Hence its name the “Bramble”. If you make it properly it’s delicious! I’d like to say the ladies made a slightly better job of this than their Cosmo’s but I’d be lying. They were terrible! But the main thing was they were certainly having a lot of fun!

The last cocktail of the class was the  strawberry Mojito. Fresh fruit definitely makes all the difference against sweet syrups for making fruit mojitos.  You don’t want to overpower the fresh flavours and smells of the mint and lime.

At the end of each round, teams have to put forward their best cocktail for Ryan to choose a winner. Then at the end of the three rounds a winner is chosen. The winning team is awarded with a bottle of fizz. In this case, it was the birthday girls team and this wasn’t due to a fix!

When we had completed our job of making sure everybody was suitably tipsy, we packed away and left the ladies to enjoy the rest of their day.

What a great bunch and what a lovely way to spend a sunny Friday afternoon. We can’t wait to work for you again in the future!
