Private dining by the pool.
We set off to Boughton, a beautiful local village, last weekend for a private dining event. This particular one being for a hen weekend in a gorgeous big house with open plan kitchen and dining space. A set of huge bifold doors looked out to the heated swimming pool and Swedish hot tub.
The way our private dining events tend to work is that we ask the client to choose two dishes of each course for their gathering. For instance, if there are vegetarians in the group a meat dish and a vegetarian dish would be chosen. If there are no vegetarians they may choose a meat dish and a fish dish. The dishes of choice are then sent back to us with numbers of who’s having what. We turn up on the day a couple of hours before the party choose to be seated and set about cooking a delicious, hassle free meal!
We arrived at the house at a similar time to part of the hen group. While they transformed the dining space into “Carlie’s last disco”, we got ourselves unpacked and ready to feed everyone! Although we bought everything with us that we needed, like cutlery, crockery and mini menus for the table, when we got there the girls had already laid the table beautifully with crockery from the house and bits and bobs they had brought with them. When the bride-to-be arrived she was surprised to learn she had her own private chef and waitress for the evening cooking her and her friends a three course meal!
For this dining evening the menu chosen was a Bloody Mary prawn cocktail or caprese salad to start. This was followed by our ever popular chicken in creamy white wine sauce dish or seabass with mash, seaweed and dill pesto. For desert the ladies chose Eton mess or chocolate brownie. All three courses went down extremely well and the ladies were having more and more fun as each course came out! We finished off with a little homemade shot and a chocolate as a thank you for their booking.
Once we had completely cleared away, cleaned and left the kitchen exactly how we found it, we left the hens to enjoy the rest of their evening. We can only imagine it went on for a few more hours after we left! The group were so friendly and fun and I’m sure they had a great weekend.
Wishing the bride-to-be the best day on her wedding day in a few weeks time.
