Bagpipes and horses…
At last what a lovely sunny Summer Saturday for a wedding! (Except the heavens opening for ten minutes but that was during speeches anyway!)
This week we were back at The Red Barn in South Runcton for the second week in a row for the wedding of E & C.
We popped in earlier in the week to lay tablecloths and set tables with napkins, glassware, cutlery and crockery.
On the day, we had chance to catch up with C before the wedding while he waited for his guests, and his bride, to arrive. As guests did begin arriving they were greeted by something a little different to usual. The Cambridge Bagpiper played while people took their seats and as an overwhelming surprise for E as she arrived with her father on a horse drawn carriage courtesy of Townies Carriage Hire.
After the marriage on sight at the barn, the newlyweds and guests poured out into the sun where E & C and their daughter L had a ride and some photos in the carriage and the Bagpiper played once again. During this time we were on hand to keep people hydrated with Pimms, beers and other drinks. We also handed out canapés. Under C’s insistence, these were his all time favourite, lamb kofta balls. Alongside these they chose honey mustard sausages, sweet chilli prawns and sun dried tomato crostinis.
The wedding party ventured in from the garden just as a very heavy black cloud began to loom. This really was just in time because it poured just as C did his speech. But it passed as quickly as it began and that was that for the rest of the day.
For their wedding breakfast E & C went for this years most popular choice, BBQ sharing boards. This consists of hand pressed burgers, sausages, BBQ glazed chicken drumsticks and slow roasted BBQ pulled pork. All served with Brioche buns, corn on the cob, new potatoes, salad and homemade coleslaw.
Dessert was the wedding cake, cut into portions by Tracy in the kitchen. Tables were bought up one at a time to chose a slice and make a tea or coffee if required.
As always, during service we kept waters and wines topped up and ensured everyone was happy. Then it was on to the bar for the evening. E & C requested a Mojito hour at 9pm while the food was being served. The evening food of choice this week was pizza and chips!
Guests partied the night away to local band Bear Club. Everyone seemed to have a lovely day and I didn’t catch C without a huge grin on his face all day and night.
Wishing you both and your beautiful daughter all the best in your next family chapter.
