A marquee surrounded by sunflowers.
What an amazing setting this wedding was. This time last year it was the family farms wheat field. When the crops were gone the field was flattened, seeded with grass and bordered in wild flowers and sunflowers. Then the whole family crossed their fingers and hoped for the best.
And what an outcome it was! A & J honestly had the most beautiful setting I think I’ve seen in all our years doing what we do. It couldn’t have worked more perfectly. Every sunflower was open and facing the marquee, the wild flowers were in full bloom of reds, yellows, blues and whites. It was truly remarkable.
We arrived on Friday to help the family lay tables and set up for the next day. It really does all start to come together once the tables are laid. A & J opted for a sage green theme.
On Saturday, after an unfortunate downpour, A & J and their guests arrived at the marquee where staff were waiting with Champagne and Elderflower fizz. Whilst everybody was kept topped up there were canapés galore! We had choices of satay chicken skewers, tomato crostinis, Cromer crab crostinis, cheese straws and honey mustard sausages.
Guests were led to their tables and topped up on the way through for speeches. Wines and waters had been laid ready for their arrival. When their speeches were complete we set to feeding everyone. All 130 of them!
A & J chose a Salmon en crout served with new potatoes and tender stem broccoli as their main course, with salmon fillet for our gluten free guests and veggie wellington for the veggies and vegans. Dessert was a duo of Eton mess and orange chocolate brownies. Vegan/gluten free brownies were the dessert for those who needed them.
The families of A & J provided a wonderful cheese buffet that we set out for them to dig in to once they were finished dessert, along with the tea and coffee station.
From then on we were behind the bar to serve guests with drinks provided by the bride and groom while everybody partied the night away to the band (whose name I missed). Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time. I think there were probably a few sore heads the next day!
A & J we wish you all the best in your future life together.
